<p>Thankfully unlocking the secret message effects is simple enough.</p>
<p>Go to the Messages <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/apps/">app</a> and open up an iMessage chat with someone.</p>
<p>Type what you want to say then hold down on the Send button – rather than tapping it.</p>

<p>This will reveal a <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/iphone">iPhone</a> hidden menu that you may have previously missed.</p>
<p>There are five different text options that you can try out.</p>
<p>The first four appear on the main Bubble screen.</p>
<p>These change the way your message bubbles look.</p>
<p>And the fifth is on the Screen tab at the top, which animates the entire display.</p>
<p>For Bubbles, you have four options: Slam, Loud and Gentle, which effect how your message bubbles appear.</p>
<p>They&#8217;ll pop up with fun animations if you choose any of them.</p>
<p>The fourth is called Invisible Ink and it&#8217;s extremely useful.</p>
<p>When you send an Invisible Ink message, it&#8217;ll be blurred out until you swipe your finger over it.</p>
<p>This means it&#8217;s perfect for using outside of the home, when you might not want other people reading over your shoulder.</p>
<p>The message will fade away again after a few seconds, requiring another swipe.</p>
<p>This allows you to text in relative secrecy.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s also great if you want to discuss movie spoilers in a group chat.</p>
<p>The fifth option is behind the Screen tab at the top.</p>
<p>This lets you flood the recipient&#8217;s entire screen with whatever you&#8217;ve typed.</p>
<p>It works really well if you tap out a few emoji icons.</p>
<p>But it&#8217;ll also work if you send a message with plain old text in too.</p>

<p>The only catch is that the other person has to be using <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/apple/">Apple</a> iMessage – they won&#8217;t work over SMS, like in chats with Android phones.</p>
