Led by Hawke Ventures and Vanterra Ventures, the seed round will enable Superfiliate to reach more brands looking to transform traditional affiliate links and discount codes into personalized shopping experiences

LOS ANGELES, March 30, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Superfiliate, a software platform supercharging brands word of mouth marketing channels through co-branded landing pages across their best customers, influencers, ambassadors, and affiliates, today announced the closing of a $3 million seed funding round led by Hawke Ventures and Vanterra Ventures, with participation from R2 Ventures, Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, Sandbox Studio Investments, Nik Sharma of Sharma Brands, Ben Zises, founder of Super Angel, and Jesse Pujji, founder of Ampush and Khahani, and Piersen Krass, founder of Lunar Solar Group.

In 2022, Affiliate marketing accounted for 16% of all online purchases in the U.S. Superfiliate takes legacy affiliate links and referral codes, historically used to simply track attribution, and turns them into fully personalized shopping experiences to drive sales and boost site conversion. By doing this, creators and customers speaking on behalf of a brand no lnger disappear from the buying experience beyond the link, but send their audiences to a landing page where they can tell their brand story, curate their favorite products, and get paid for the sales they generate.

Scalable personalization and customization of the product-sharing experience have raised conversion rates by 20%+ while helping deepen the sense of partnership between brands and their creators and customers. Historically, brands were able to succeed with static shops because nearly all traffic and revenue came from traditional paid media channels. But with headwinds in the paid acquisition, brands have to diversify acquisition across a number of channels, with Superfiliate enabling them to optimize the conversion funnel for each unique source of traffic.

Founded less than two years ago by Anders Bill and Andy Cloyd,  the company is already working with some of the top ecommerce merchants, including MudWTR, Florence By Mills, Beam, and Hiya Health.

CEO of Superfiliate, Andy Cloyd said, “With the rise of the creator economy and proliferation of short-form video, the way people discover products and shop has transformed entirely in the last five years, but the technology at a brand’s disposal has not evolved in step. We’re building a platform native to new e-commerce paradigms that empower creators and help brands consolidate disparate tools into one easy-to-use app that is consistent with the brand aesthetic that merchants spend years crafting.”

“Superfiliate has created something incredibly needed and special. Companies are quickly trying to identify how to maximize their returns on their marketing, and what Superfiliate has created is a great answer to that need. We are very excited to be a part of that journey,” said Erik Huberman, CEO and Founder of Hawke Media.

Birdseye raises $500,000 to help Shopify businesses automate marketing strategies using AI https://cbomo.com/birdseye-raises-500000-to-help-shopify-businesses-automate-marketing-strategies-using-ai/ https://cbomo.com/birdseye-raises-500000-to-help-shopify-businesses-automate-marketing-strategies-using-ai/#respond Thu, 30 Mar 2023 11:05:33 +0000 https://cbomo.com/birdseye-raises-500000-to-help-shopify-businesses-automate-marketing-strategies-using-ai/ [ad_1]

Birdseye’s platform generates marketing plans with step-by-step instructions.

Toronto-based artificial intelligence (AI) startup Birdseye has secured $500,000 in pre-seed funding as part of its mission to help e-commerce businesses automate their marketing workflows.

The capital came from Ohio-based private equity firm Drive Capital and its $80 million seed program that invests in early-stage companies in Toronto as well as Chicago, Atlanta, Columbus, and Denver. Its portfolio includes the likes of Duolingo as well as Canadian startups Koho, ApplyBoard, and Cyclica.

”With funding in place, Birdseye is well positioned to level the playing field for growing brands.”
– Matt Bogoroch, Birdseye

Birdseye is entering a saturated market for AI applications in marketing, especially now that enterprises such as Microsoft and Google have taken part in this new wave of generative AI.

Generative AI has been widely used in marketing to create text, video, and image content. However, prior to the recent boom in generative AI, machine learning has been mainly used in marketing to provide competitive intelligence to businesses. Birdseye believes this isn’t enough.

According to Birdseye, its platform goes beyond standard e-commerce analytics reporting, which typically lacks solutions for what to do with the collected data. Birdseye uses AI to automatically generate step-by-step marketing plans.

Each week, Birdseye users receive marketing plans that are designed to be simple to act on. The platform is able to identify which specific product to advertise, who to advertise it to, and which channels to deploy the advertising campaign.

Birdseye also noted that each AI-generated marketing strategy is also accompanied by an expected end result, meant to help businesses pursue marketing opportunities that are most likely to yield lucrative outcomes. Birdseye’s software integrates with data from various e-commerce and social media platforms, including Shopify, Google, TikTok, Meta, and Klaviyo.

Birdseye was founded in 2021 by brothers Matt (CEO) and Adam Bogoroch (COO) as well as Shardul Frey (CTO). Matt and Frey shared a cubicle at KPMG in 2018, where they advised organizations on AI and developed advanced analytics solutions.

At one point in their time at KPMG, Matt and Frey recognized the challenges involved in interpreting data for large enterprises and how small businesses don’t have access to traditional management consulting.

Tapping Adam to join its founding team, Matt and Frey decided to establish Birdseye to provide “sophisticated technology and analysis at an affordable price for small and medium sized businesses.”

Matt told BetaKit that Birdseye is continuing to develop marketing solutions for Shopify brands and the broader e-commerce industry. This $500,000 in new funding will be allocated towards expanding Birdseye’s core engineering team.

“With funding in place, Birdseye is well positioned to level the playing field for growing brands. Our goal is to become the leading ecommerce software for Shopify and ecommerce businesses,” said Matt.

Wunderkind Raises $76M As Marketing Faces A Reckoning https://cbomo.com/wunderkind-raises-76m-as-marketing-faces-a-reckoning/ https://cbomo.com/wunderkind-raises-76m-as-marketing-faces-a-reckoning/#respond Fri, 03 Mar 2023 00:26:54 +0000 https://cbomo.com/wunderkind-raises-76m-as-marketing-faces-a-reckoning/ [ad_1]

Technology has gotten so good at targeting ads that people regularly think their phones are listening in on them.

Wunderkind, the New York-based marketing startup, announced on Thursday it raised $76 million in Series C funding, TechCrunch reported. Neuberger Berman led the round, bringing total funding to the company to $151.9 million per Crunchbase data.

Search less. Close more.

Grow your revenue with all-in-one prospecting solutions powered by the leader in private-company data.

Formerly known as BounceX, Wunderkind started in 2010 to better find niche consumers and market to them at scale. The company promises customers it can increase page views, convert readers into subscribers and generate more e-commerce revenue through its data-capturing and analytics services. The company knows when a viewer has stopped reading, watching or otherwise engaging with an ad.

Wunderkind has worked with brands like fast-fashion retailer Forever 21, media group Refinery29 and cosmetics company Clarins.

A changing world

Behavioral marketing strategies like the ones Wunderkind employs — triangulating customers based on a spat of information about people’s interests, age and location (among other things) — is a popular strategy for brands. If you’ve ever been inundated with pet food ads after befriending your new cat-owning roommate, you’ve certainly been the unintended victim of behavioral marketing. (No? Just me?)

But behavioral marketing, however popular, has been scrambling lately. Meta and other social media platforms have significantly increased the cost of advertising after the direct-to-consumer marketing boom. Apple has made it easier for users to opt out of data tracking on apps.

In addition, the European Union’s data privacy and protection law, known as GDPR, enforces sizable fees to companies that use “invasive” data mining. A lot of behavioral marketing tactics commonly deployed in the U.S. won’t fly in Europe.

Marketing tactics will have to involve getting active consent from users to mine their data, as well as relying less on automation. Perhaps the future will move away from behavioral marketing and more toward contextual marketing — if you’re watching a video about cooking, you may be served cookware-related ads.

That means brands are often stuck paying more money to target potential customers while being less informed about who those customers actually are. And companies like Wunderkind will have to adapt to being just as effective without being able to rely on cookies or automation.
