Couponing began as a hobby and money-saving passion for Keesh Deesh, who started a Facebook group in 2016 to share coupons and deals with friends.
“I started a Facebook group to show people what they needed to do, how to go to the store, how to save money, and everyone was really interested in it,” Deesh, who goes by a pseudonym online for privacy, told Insider. Once her friends began inviting their friends, and so on, Deesh’s group “started to take off.”
Today, Deesh’s “Dollar Diva Group” has more than 364,000 members and Deesh’s Facebook profile has 11,000 followers. She also launched a Telegram group, which has 31,000 members.
Deesh said that as the pandemic began in 2020 she started “dabbling” in affiliate marketing, which let her earn a commission from the deals and products she was sharing in her Facebook group. Influencers across platforms and industries have utilized this method to promote everything from financial apps to fashion brands.
When Deesh first started sharing affiliate links in her group, she was using Amazon’s Affiliate Program. Currently, Deesh mostly uses links generated by the affiliate marketing company Mavely because she said it was a smoother process and offered more brand options and perks than Amazon.
From Mavely links alone, Deesh has earned more than $220,000 in commission since January. Insider verified her earnings with documentation provided by Mavely.
In 2022, Deesh quit her previous job to go full time managing her Facebook group. Deesh posts every day to her group and told Insider that she’s on an upwards curve of earnings.
“I still every day wake up and have to pinch myself because I can’t believe that this community has turned into that for me,” she said.
Big shopping days, like Black Friday or Prime Day, are big days for commissions, she added.
But don’t go calling Deesh an influencer just yet.
“I haven’t dove into content creation,” Deesh said. “What I’ve done is just built a community.”
While influencers often share content showcasing the highlights, Deesh said she tries to keep her Facebook Group relatable.
“There are people out there that don’t make those types of finances and can’t go out and just buy all these brands,” Deesh said. “I wanted to make sure that anyone that wanted something, they were able to get it.”
By sharing products, sales, and deals in her group, Deesh views the experience as bringing those members along with her and shopping together. The group’s description even reads: “Come shop with us and save a bunch of your coins.”

“You might be a single parent that can’t go out and buy all these luxurious things,” Deesh said. “But if you shop with me, I can find those luxurious things for you at a price that is more comfortable for you to still live your life on a day-to-day basis.”
In other words, Deesh is partaking in and running a social-shopping experience. Social shopping broadly refers to the phenomenon of shopping on social media and interacting with other users, such as live shopping or influencer posts.
But in order to run a successful social-shopping experience, Deesh said trust is crucial.

Credibility is the chain that firmly connects you to another person, so your ideas are respected, and your recommendations are given due consideration. There are four links in the chain of credibility. If one of them breaks, your credibility is broken — or was never secured in the first place.

In business, it’s not just who you know, but also who knows YOU. These days, you often don’t make the first impression with a new partner, prospect or job candidate. Google and LinkedIn do that. If your online presence doesn’t suggest you’re a somebody, you can easily be perceived as a nobody — especially with young professionals entering the workforce.
Being known requires you to proactively become visible, findable and relevant online. Take a moment to Google your name to see what others see. Then share (some of) your expertise that’s relevant to the people you want to do business with. Keep in mind, your digital credibility must be developed in addition to (not in place of) networking with other professionals.

I’ve had a couple of department heads who felt it was so important to be liked by their staff that it compromised their ability to hold them accountable for doing their jobs. Suffice it to say, their team members underperformed. Their need to be liked led to their undoing.

Being trustworthy is not about morality, it’s about congruence. Bottom line, you have to walk your talk.
When price and product are equal, people prefer to do business with those they know, like and trust. When price and product are NOT equal, people STILL prefer to do business with those they know, like and trust. But that’s not enough to be credible in today’s marketplace.
You have to be seen as someone who knows how to help and cares more about serving others than serving yourself. During my years as a public image chair in Rotary International, I learned this concept as “Service Above Self.”
Being helpful professionally is about making sense of complex issues, providing clarity in the fog and collaborating with others to solve problems they haven’t been able to solve on their own. But resist your urge to immediately play the hero and save the day.
Albert Einstein was once asked, “If you had one hour to solve a problem, and the problem was the Earth was going to be destroyed, how would you allocate your hour?” He reportedly answered, “I would spend the first 59 minutes fully understanding the problem and the last minute actually solving the problem.”

When others believe you fully understand the problem through their eyes, you’ll have the credibility to recommend the changes needed to actually solve the problem.
You might strongly believe that you are knowledgeable and friendly and that you always act with integrity and have the expertise to help others achieve their goals. The question is, do THEY know that?
To earn the trust of the people who are vital to your success, always build and maintain your credibility with them.

No, it isn’t your WiFi.
Twitter was down on Monday afternoon after hundreds of users started reporting that hyperlinks and images were not working on the site.
The social media platforms redirect link service, t.co, is thought to be the cause of the outage.

The company confirmed the issues via the Twitter Support account just past noon EST on Monday and chalked up the outages to an “internal change that had some unintended consequences.”

According to DownDetector, 8,378 users had reported issues with the social media platform as of 11:57 a.m. EST.
Users clicking on links in Tweets received API error messages telling them that their ‘API Code does not include access to this endpoint’ and have been unable to access external content.

Twitter did not specify what exact issues it was referring to via the Twitter Support account.
“Since Twitter,” “Oh Twitter,” and #TwitterDown were all trending globally on Monday.
Twitter also crashed in February when users tried to create new posts and got an error message that said: “You are over the daily limit for sending Tweets.” At the time, other users noted they were no longer able to follow new users or see an updated list of their followers.
