EValuate Diagnostics, the first spinout company from Hackensack Meridian Health’s Research Institute and its Office of Innovation and Commercialization, received a $1 million commitment from Foundation Venture Capital Group (FVCG).
Announced last week, EValuate Diagnostics offers a new platform for the targeted capture of circulating biomarkers, or extracellular vesicles (EVs). The company focuses on developing diagnostic solutions for very early and rapid detection of diseases, like cancer.
An affiliate of the New Jersey Health Foundation (NJHF), FVCG’s addition of EValuate to its portfolio will help advance the company’s technologies – turning this kind of testing into a reality and saving lives.
According to HMH Chief Executive Officer Robert Garrett, the innovation aims to revolutionize detecting and treating disease.

“With partnerships like that with FVCG, we are accelerating breakthroughs to save lives,” said Garrett. “We are grateful to have such important relationships with organizations who understand our ambitions.”
“EValuate Diagnostics’ research could be a game-changer, and we will help make their objective of successfully commercializing their technology a reality – for everyone’s benefit,” said Dr. George Heinrich, vice chair and CEO, NJHF and FVCG.
EValuate Diagnostics is based on the work of Dr. Olivier Loudig. An associate member of the Hackensack Meridian Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI), Loudig is directly involved with EValuate’s development.
HMH officials say this type of work and company reflect why the CDI was founded in 2019. The office has a core mission of translating cutting-edge science to rapidly impact patient health.
“The work of Olivier Loudig is pushing the envelope of disease detection,” said Dr. David Perlin, chief scientific officer and executive vice president of the CDI. “We are thrilled that this work will be translated for real-world clinical impact in the near future.”
“We will support the work as EValuate Diagnostics continues to break new ground in this field,” said Sandra Powell-Elliott, chief innovation officer for HMH, who leads the network’s Office of Innovation and Commercialization.
“This is the kind of new idea, targeted toward clinical need, that can truly ‘move the needle,’” said Dr. Ihor Sawczuk, HMH’s president of Academics, Research and Innovation, founding chair of the HMH Research Institute.
