Democratising AI? OpenAI Rolls Out ChatGPT-4o


In case you missed it, yesterday OpenAI launched its newest model, ChatGPT-4o. A statement published on openai.com reads, “In line with our mission, we are focused on advancing AI technology and ensuring it is accessible and beneficial to everyone. Today we are introducing our newest model, GPT-4o, and will be rolling out more intelligence and advanced tools to ChatGPT for free”. With its advanced capabilities and the expansion of tools for ChatGPT free users, could the implications for affiliate marketers be profound?

Understanding ChatGPT-4o

ChatGPT-4o (“o” for “omni”)  boasts improvements in language understanding, context comprehension, and response generation. It builds upon the strengths of its predecessors while introducing new features that push the boundaries of what’s possible in natural language processing.

One of the key advancements of ChatGPT-4o is its ability to generate more coherent and contextually relevant responses. The language capabilities of GPT-4o are said to be improved across quality and speed. On Monday May 13, Mira Murati, chief technology officer of OpenAI, said GPT-4o “brings GPT-4-level intelligence to everything, including our free users.” 

The demonstrations shared at Monday’s event included the ability to interpret voice, video, images and code in a single interface. In a bid to bring more intelligence and advanced tools for free, OpenAI will begin to roll out GPT-4o to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with availability for Enterprise users coming soon. They have already started to roll out to ChatGPT Free with usage limits. Users will have a message limit that is up to 5x greater than free users, and Team and Enterprise users will have even higher limits.
